Questions people actually ask

Is the free tier crippled?

No. Every plot type, every option and every export format works on the free tier. The only difference is a small “made with strataplot.com” line along the bottom edge of downloaded files — and the plot on screen is never watermarked.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

Never, on any tier. Your table is parsed and plotted by JavaScript in your own browser and exports are generated locally — none of it is ever sent anywhere. The only server code on this site is the Stripe checkout endpoint, which handles a plan name and a payment and never sees a single number you have plotted.

What happens when I pay — do I get an account?

No. You get a licence key: one line of text, signed by us, that your browser checks on its own. It is shown immediately on the page you land on after paying, and emailed to your purchase address so it is somewhere you cannot close. Paste it in and the watermark stops. There is no password to forget, nothing to log into, and no customer record on our side at all — Stripe holds the payment record, we hold nothing.

Where do I keep the key, and what if I lose it?

Three places, in the order worth trying. First, your inbox: the key is emailed to the address you paid with the moment the purchase completes, under the subject “Your StrataPlot license key”, with the restore steps in it. Second, your browser history: the activation address you landed on after paying re-issues the same key with the same expiry, as many times as you need — look for strataplot.com/activate. Third, the file: that page offers a “Download licence file” button, and strataplot-license.txt holds the key, your plan, the expiry and the restore procedure in a text file that needs no internet connection. A password manager does the same job as the file. If you still have the key, just paste it into “Restore your licence” above — it works on as many browsers and machines as you use. We keep no copy of your key, so those are the only routes there are.

Can I use the figures in a paper or a commercial report?

Yes, on every tier, including the free one. The figures are yours. The watermark is a credit, not a licence restriction.

Saved projects and batch export are listed under both Free and Pro — which is it?

Both are free while the tool is in beta, and the plotter says so wherever the features appear. They will move to Pro afterwards. Nothing you have saved will be taken away — a project is a file in your own browser, and you can export it as JSON at any time.

What does the founding licence get me?

Everything Pro does, for one payment instead of a renewal, including plot types added later. It is capped at 200 licences because it only makes sense while the tool is early.

Can I have a refund?

No — all purchases are final, and it is worth saying why that is fair rather than leaving it as fine print. Every one of the 21 tools runs in full before you pay: 16 are free end to end, and the 5 Pro ones load the real engine, draw the real figure from their sample dataset and export it. Nothing about the paid product is hidden from someone who has not paid, so a few minutes on the free tier answers the question a refund would otherwise have to. What is not covered by that is a licence that does not work: if your key will not activate, write to help@strataplot.com and it will be fixed, and a duplicate charge goes straight back. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, completing checkout is a request for immediate delivery of digital content and waives the 14-day withdrawal right once the key has been issued; your rights if the product is faulty are untouched.
