What you get when you buy a StrataPlot licence, what it lets you do, and what happens if something goes wrong. Written to be read once, in full, in about three minutes.

1. What you are buying

A licence key: one line of signed text that your browser checks on its own. It is not an account, not a subscription and not a login — there is nothing to cancel and nothing that renews by itself. Nothing is charged again unless you come back and buy again.

Pro, $79, runs for 12 months from the day you buy it. Lifetime, $149, is one payment and never expires. Both are one-time payments taken by Stripe.

2. What the free tier already includes

All 21 plot types load and run for anyone, with no account. 16 of them are free end to end. The other 5 Kinematic Analysis, Borehole Log, Borehole Correlation, CPT Profile, Ground Reaction Curve — run their sample dataset live, with every option working and the figure exportable; the one thing they withhold without a licence is entering your own data.

Free exports carry a small “made with strataplot.com” credit along the bottom edge, and the free data grid takes up to 1,000 rows per plot. Everything else is the finished product.

The figures are yours on every tier, including the free one. Put them in a paper, a thesis, a client report or a commercial deliverable. The credit line is a credit, not a licence condition, and nothing on this site claims any right over what you plot.

3. What a licence permits

A Pro or Lifetime licence, for as long as it is valid, permits you to:

  • export figures with no credit line;
  • enter your own data into the 5 Pro tools listed above;
  • use batch export and saved projects — both currently free for everybody while the tool is in beta, and both covered by a licence when that ends;
  • send a dataset to another device by link or QR code;
  • work with up to 100,000 rows per plot instead of 1,000;
  • activate the same key in as many browsers and on as many machines as you work on. There is no seat count and nothing checks in with a server.

A Lifetime licence additionally covers plot types added after you buy it.

The key is issued to one buyer. Publishing it, reselling it or handing it out is the one thing this licence asks you not to do — the price of a tool with no login and no seat checks is that the honest use of the key is a matter of good faith.

4. Term, expiry and renewal

A Pro key expires on the same calendar date one year after purchase. Nothing is charged at that point, because there is no stored payment method and no subscription — the key simply stops verifying.

After it expires the site keeps working on the free tier: every tool still opens, exports carry the credit line again, the row ceiling returns to 1,000, and the Pro tools go back to running their sample data. Nothing you have saved is deleted — a saved project is a file in your own browser.

An expired key cannot be extended. Buying again issues a new key with a new term.

5. All sales are final

Purchases are not refundable, and we would rather tell you that here than at the point you ask. The reason it is fair is the reason it is stated so plainly: you can evaluate the entire product before paying anything.

Every tool runs in full on the free tier. The 5 Pro tools are not screenshots behind a padlock — they load the real engine, draw the real figure from their sample dataset, and export it. The only difference a licence makes is the credit line, your own data in those 5 tools, and the ceilings in clause 3. Nothing about the paid experience is hidden from a visitor who has not paid, so there is no version of “it turned out not to be what I expected” that a few minutes on the free tier would not have answered.

What is not covered by that policy is a licence that does not work. If your key will not activate, write to help@strataplot.com and it will be fixed. A charge with no working licence behind it is not a sale we intend to keep. If you were charged twice, say so and the duplicate goes back.

If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK: a licence key is digital content supplied immediately. By completing checkout you request that immediate supply and acknowledge that you thereby lose the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal once the key has been issued. Your rights where the product is faulty or not as described are unaffected by anything on this page.

6. What the tools are, and are not

Every tool here is a plotting and calculation aid. It is not a substitute for engineering judgement, and agreement with a published worked example is evidence that the equations were transcribed correctly — not that they are the right equations for your ground. Where a published source states the result of a worked example, the validation page puts that result beside the one this site computes, with the tolerance each comparison is tested to and the limits of each claim.

The site is provided as it is, without a warranty that it is fit for any particular purpose. Check what you publish.

7. Your data

Nothing you plot leaves your browser, on any tier. What the payment endpoints see, what Stripe holds and what your browser stores locally are set out on the privacy page, which is short for the same reason this one is.

8. Changes, and how to reach a human

These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did. A change applies to purchases made after it, and never rewrites the licence you already hold.

For anything at all — a key that will not activate, a question before buying, a bug, a plot type you wish existed — help@strataplot.com is read by a person.
